Odysea
in the Desert will be a high impact and totally unique destination
and experience for millions of visitors. The project is expected to
consist of a Butterfly Wonderland, an Odysea Aquarium, an IMAX® Experience, a Ripley's Believe
It or Not! ®, an Arizona Experience, and MagiQuest™,
along with retail stores and restaurants.
The project will be 523,000 square feet along with parking for over
2,400 cars, on a gross site area of 37.5 acres.
Odysea
in the Desert will be a world class attraction which in addition
to retail and restaurants will encompass multiple linked and
integrated visual and sensory experiences, thus providing an
entertainment and learning venue unlike anything else in the
Southwest. Tour opportunities will make Odysea in the Desert
the must see experience destination within the Arizona tourism
industry and the local population. A recent tourism study found
that "too many of Scottsdale's potentially powerful products
are dispersed, thus limiting their ability to be convenient
to visitors." Odysea in the Desert will eliminate this problem
by creating a multitude of destination attractions within one
defined area.
With convenient access from the 101 Freeway and Via de Ventura,
Odysea in the Desert is strategically located at the NE corner
of this intersection (see attached map), and with easy access
to a large number of Scottsdale hotels and resorts.
The Phoenix Metropolitan area has a population of over 4.2 million
and has over 14 million tourists per year, over half visit or
stay in Scottsdale for an average or 5.4 days. Tucson, with
1 million residents, is only a hour and a half drive away.
