Green Building is a whole system approach utilizing design and building techniques to minimize environmental impact and reduce energy consumption of buildings while contributing to the health of the occupants.

Many elements of green building are not outwardly apparent, such as:

l Resource efficiency
l Energy efficiency
l Water efficiency
l Maintenance efficiency

Areas in which we will strive to feature green techniques are:

l Landscaping-xeriscape and high efficiency irrigation systems
l Flooring from natural materials
l Use of regional materials
l Paints with low volatile organic compounds
l Establishing micro climates to create shade
l Low reflective surface areas for parking
l Solar
l Low water use toilets
l Use of the most efficient energy rate program available from SRP
l Indoor air quality management programs
l Energy efficient light bulbs
l Recycle programs
l Incorporating an inner courtyard filled with plants and fountains so that the air
  temperature is naturally lowered.
l Tall doors, high ceilings and vented cupolas draw cool air through the buildings,
  allowing them to "breathe".

Cars will be parked outside and a walking community will be created in the village public area, naturally conducive to social interaction. Undesirable vehicle emissions will be kept out of the community, further enhancing its desirability.
